You know, it's kind of a cliche that folks who live in small towns and states that are,

for the most part rural, but not completely rural, are tougher.

But with this story that I would like to start us off with, I think that cliche can be embraced.

An 87-year-old woman in Maine, she's from Brunswick, Maine, which is delightful, delightful town, fought off a teenage attacker and then fed him because he said he was, quote, awfully hungry, unquote.

Marjorie Perkins said that she, listen to what she went through.

She said she awoke at 2 o'clock in the morning and saw a young man standing over her bed.

He had shed his shirt and pants and told her he was going to cut her.

I thought to myself, and this is the lady, I thought to myself, if he's going to cut,

I'm going to kick.

She put her shoes on, which I think is my favorite part of this story.

She put her shoes on and she fought back. Now again, he's a teenage male. She's an 87-year-old

woman. She put a chair between the two of them as they jostled in her Brunswick home. The intruder

struck her on the cheek
