I'm Charles Coleman Jr. filling in for Ali Velshi today. And we begin this hour with the latest on the United States War with Iran.

Now, earlier today, Pakistan's prime minister sat down with Iran's foreign minister

to revive the stalled peace talks with the U.S.

An Iranian delegation also met with Pakistan representatives

to discuss the details of these negotiations.

Now, President Trump says he is sending his envoy, Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, today to Pakistan for talks with Iran.

However, an Iranian spokesperson said yesterday that no direct talks are planned between Iran and the U.S.

Trump said that this war would only last just a few weeks, but now it's approaching the two-month mark.

And so far, there have not been many signs that a lasting peace deal can be easily negotiated.

When Tuesday, Trump extended the United States ceasefire with Iran indefinitely shortly before

it was originally set to expire.

While the fighting has stopped, the conflict has evolved into a standstill over the

control of the state of the Strait of Hormuz. When asked about his timeline for the war with Iran

this week, Trump told reporters, quote, don't rush me. He later added, quote, I want to take my time.

Yesterday, Defense Secretary Pete Hexeth expressed a similar sentiment.

He said that America will maintain a blockade of the straight for, quote, as long as it takes.

Now, during that press conference on the war,

Hexseth gave two questions to reporters from the Entertainment Network, TMZ,

which has recently opened a Washington, D.C. Bureau.

You changed the Department of Defense to the Department of War.

Would you consider changing the name again to the Department of Peace since that's what we're all after?
