Many of us may have set intentions with the new year, or we're setting an intention with a new week or a new month or

0:23.4

our personal new year, whatever it might be. And this intention or resolution or goal may involve

0:31.5

how we want to grow, evolve, or change. It's important to remember that sometimes when we set our sights on an outcome

0:39.7

that is not yet part of our lives, we might tell ourselves an unhelpful story. I will be at peace

0:47.4

when I achieve, reach, or complete whatever that particular aspiration is that we've set. Or I will be happy when,

0:56.3

insert the lifestyle change we have envisioned. When we tell ourselves these stories,

we are neglecting to understand how to be happy in the present moment. And the present moment

1:08.2

is all that we will have. Even when that future moment arrives, it will be the present moment is all that we will have. Even when that future moment arrives,

1:43.7

to arrive at said point at some point

1:46.2

in the future by changing our schedule, tweaking our habits, etc. Then we let go and live in the now.

1:54.3

And that is where we experience the bliss of life. In the now. Being able to bring our mind back to the present moment is what we

2:05.2

practice when we sit and meditate. We practice noticing a thought, acknowledging it, but then

2:13.2

bringing our mind back to our breath. When we have toned this skill to be able to do this, bring our mind back to our breath. When we have toned this skill to be able to do this,

2:20.1

bring our mind back to our breath, this eventually translates into our everyday life so that we

2:26.0

can have a dream for the future, but consciously bring ourselves back to the present moment

2:31.7

and live fully. Let's begin. Go ahead and find someplace comfortable to

2:38.8

sit. Rest in your gaze on someplace in front of you. Begin to breathe naturally, in through your nose, and out through your mouth.

3:01.5

Feel the weight of your body as it rests on your chair, on the floor, on the bed, on the bench,
