Aloha and welcome back to Amen Podcast. I'm Lakilani, your host, and I'm joined by my husband, Alex,

who is preaching about something that hits close to home for a lot of us. When Jesus was on the

cross, the men were deserting, and the women were distant. And Alex is going to walk us through

what it looks like when we pull away from God, what we hide behind, what we're distant. And Alex is going to walk us through what it looks like when we pull away from

God, what we hide behind, why we go distant, and how he still brings us back. This one is for

anyone who's been present in name, but far away in heart. The verses for today are Matthew 27, verses 55, and 56.

I'll go ahead and read those, and then Alex will take it from there.

There were also many women there looking on from a distance who had followed Jesus from

Galilee ministering to him, among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and

Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

Amen. Welcome back. We're in our Death of Jesus series, and it's been a good time.

And we're looking at verse 55 today and 56. Verse 55 starts off with saying that there were also

many women there. So where are we? We're on Galgotha, or as it's been called in history, Calvary, this is the death of Jesus.

He just yielded up his spirit in verse 50, and we're looking at all the things that happened

directly after he yields up his spirit and he breathes his last. And this is like part two of that,

right? So we're in this series that has many parts,

but there's a little part two of the things that happened directly after he died. Last week,

we talked about the curtain splitting, the earthquakes, and the rocks opening, the tombs opening,

all that stuff. But now we look at the women who were present after Jesus dies.

So they were present there the whole time during this crucifixion.

And it says many women.

We're going to look at at least three women that are mentioned and talked about.
