This is CBS, I'm John Bachelor, the breaching of the Kakovka Dam in Ukraine, Washington Post

reporting.

Because this apparition nuclear power plant uses water from the reservoir to fill its

cooling pools, there are some concerns about the long-term impact of the dam failure.

The International Atomic Energy Agency said the facility is positioned to avoid a meltdown,

as it has access to alternate pools of water that can keep the reactors and fuel rods cool

for at least the next couple of months.

End quote, Zaparizha nuclear power plant on the Daniper River, upriver from the Kakovka

bridge, is the largest in Europe.

There are six containment vessels.

Only one we're given to understand is operating in any fashion that is of immediate concern.

At the same time, the plant has been occupied by bad actors for months, armed men, Russian

agents, Russ Adam, brutality, kidnapping, and evacuation of all been stories in previous

weeks, including the report of explosives being planted inside the plant.

I welcome Henry Sikolsky, the Executive Director of the Non-Proliferation Policy Education

Center, who has been my guide on these matters over months.

We're now looking at the water for cooling the rods and the containment vessel that's

operating, and the fact, and it's a stark fact that the counteroffensive is underway,

and that Ukrainian forces are operating in Western Zaparizha, Oblast, that is in the region

of these nuclear power plant.
