Biden administration announces new 1.7 billion lethal aid package for Ukraine.

The U.S. is committing 1.5 billion in new weapons and equipment to Ukraine through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which will include

capability quote capabilities to augment Ukraine's air defenses, fires, and anti-tank weapons, as well as funding to sustain equipment previously

committed by the United States. That's the Defense Department. We welcome

Katrina Vandenhove, the editorial director and publisher of the nation magazine.

Because in these last weeks, there have been significant alterations in the understanding that we have of the Ukraine war, chiefly Mr Biden's policies in place,

but they have limitations.

We need to know more.

And then we have candidate Harris's opinion of Ukraine, which is at this point not filled in.

We have candidate Trump and his running mates policy, which looks to be negotiation negotiation cease fire.

I'm guessing, I'm doing a lot of foreign policy guessing here, but Ukraine is an active

ongoing war in Europe where more and more sophisticated weapon

systems are showing up.

In addition, we had Moscow in these last days threaten to deploy anti-ship missiles, good stuff, to the renegade

ban in North Yemen known as the Houthis, to use against international shipping and elsewhere,

including warships.

And that was understood to be Russia saying, if you give sophisticated long-range weapons
