Ukraine conflict. Two wars and a third war threatened, but now some weeks ago two distinguished members of the

foreign policy establishment in Washington Richard Haas and Professor

Kupchen at Georgetown University published an essay at the Influential Foreign Affairs,

calling for a reassessment of Ukraine war.

It read like this, Ukraine in the West are on an unsustainable trajectory, one characterized by a glaring mismatch between ends and the available means.

Kief's war aims, the expulsion of Russian forces from Ukrainian land, and the full restoration of its territorial

integrity, including Crimea, remain legally and politically unassailable.

But strategically they are out of reach, certainly for the near future and quite possibly beyond.

I welcome Katrina Vanenhofel, the editorial director and publisher of the Nation magazine, to comment not only on this piece which

we've talked about before but now since this piece was published we have fresh

headlines this is rumor of war which is what you get at this stage of a conflict that is grinding the people

of Europe and Russia.

lost the artillery shell race,

and what it means for Ukraine.
