On June 4, Ukrainian forces launched what Russia's defense ministry called a, quote,

large-scale assault on five axes in the southeast of Denetsk province.

I welcome Katrina Vandenhovel, the editorial director and the publisher of the Nation magazine.

For months, for more than a year, we've been watching Ukraine knowing that escalation

was very likely the logic of each new weapon system, each new battlefront, each new disappointment,

each new revelation.

And here we are with the war upon us, perhaps.

There's no confirmation of any of this.
