I'm Job Gotch with my colleague Colonel Jeff McCausen, CBS News, visiting Professor Dickinson College,

Diamond Six Leadership and Strategy, Ukraine. We begin in Congress. It's not a war fighting area,

but it's critical to understand why the vow has not happened yet to support Ukraine.

They are not being shy about saying we're out of air defense, we're out of ammunition,

we're out of people, yesterday or the day before there was even a report they're out of

transport for their wounded on the battle front and Congress has not moved and Jeff at this

point I'm not going to be cynical but I'm going to say the past is prologue. Right now

Congress is in the hands of the Republicans who don't want to move. That's why

these separate votes. Are they ignoring the

facts, Jeff? If Ukraine falls, well the end the outcome is unpredictable but it would certainly not be positive for NATO.

What is your measure of Congress at this moment?

Well, it's dysfunctional, John, to predict the other Republicans on it, And it's splinter.

I mean, it's shocking to see that all of the senior Republican members of the House who are

chairman of various committees have come out publicly strongly in favor of a vote in a vote immediately in favor of

military aid for Ukraine as well as for Israel.

Mike Rogers, he's the Republican Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and I'll read you his recent quote. A Russian victory will embolden Kim

G and the Iotaoah to confront South Korea, Taiwan, Israel, and only the United

States in new and fatal ways.

I fear Putin will use a victory in Ukraine as a springboard to invade Eastern Europe.

We can't let that happen.

We must restore American deterrence and that's coming from one of the

most senior Republicans. So this flintering the Republican Party, making it dysfunctional is a concern.
