The time has come for diplomacy to pave the way for peace between Russia and Ukraine.

This is the advice of Italy's defense minister, Guido Corsepto, speaking

to the parliament in these last hours, Reuters is featuring this quote.

From this perspective it would seem that the time has come for incisive diplomacy alongside

military support because there are a number of important signals coming from both sides.

He went on to identify the fact that Russia for some time has said it's ready to speak.

And Russia has said, he goes on to say,

it is ready for peace talks if Ukraine takes account of new realities.

I mention also in Washington, there is some confusion, but in any event the Congress has not moved

on the additional monies that the president has asked for Ukraine.

61 billion was the number I recall recently and Ukraine is consistently saying we're very

low, we're low on air defense missiles, we're low on ammunition. We need support from Washington and the EU.

The EU has also hesitated because it does not have unanimity.

27 nations voting for additional aid for Ukraine.

However, Olaf Schultz, the Chancellor of Germany,

has spoken out in a very unhappy fashion chastising his colleagues.

Schultz puts pressure on EU allies with Kief A-Chard demand.

Chancellor asked counterparts to step up their efforts amid frustration over Germany's larger share of financial burden.
