Ukraine Conflict.

I welcome my colleague Anatole Leaven

of the Quincy Institute for Responsible State Craft

to the spring of 2023. Anatole you published an article that was extremely positive, passed to a ceasefire in Ukraine,

America must take the lead.

Here we are in the winter of 2024. It would have been

unimaginable in the spring of last year to say what I'm about to. The Republican Party has left the room, no longer participating

in aiding or leading or solving the Ukraine crisis. The Republican Party is now caught up in the presidential campaign and it's very

clear that the leading candidate Donald Trump is not sympathetic to Ukraine, to Europe, to NATO, to the EU.

So much so, it's not exact, but it's so much so that there is no interest in the Republican House, or even members of the Republican House or even members of the Republican Senate to go against

Donald Trump's opinion of Ukraine being unnecessary.

And so therefore, not only is the U.S. not taking the lead, it's left the room.

This is something we didn't anticipate.

Is Europe to your measure now accepting this as a fact and that if the Ukraine conflict is to go forward

Europe must take the lead. Good evening to you. Hello John. Well yes I mean this was what I didn't anticipate last year. You know I

predicted accurately as it turns out that the Ukrainian offensive would probably

fail and that there would be an ongoing stalemate, a bloody stalemate of course.

But what I didn't expect was that the Republican Party would block aid.

I also didn't anticipate that Hungary and other countries would put up so much resistance in Europe to future, to further aid to Ukraine. Now the
