Summary

As Putin throws his forces relentlessly into the meat-grinder of Avdiivka, Mike and Ryan sort through the state of Russia's offensive there, Moscow's efforts to bleed Ukrainian air defense, and Kyiv's success on the Black Sea. They also discuss how Ukraine can defend and rebuild in 2024 so that it can go on the offensive again next year. Ryan and Mike also return to Europe's ongoing failure to muster the political will and resources needed to do its part. And listeners will be treated to a rant from Ryan on the turmoil over President Zelenksy's reported decision to fire Gen. Zaluzhny.

But while the fight stabilized towards the end of the year, I think the last time we really talked about this was around New Year's,

And so the situation around of DiFCA is, I would say, stable but stably bad and trending for the worse.

1:15.0

You know, it sounds that Russian forces are making incremental gains,

1:18.0

and I still hold to kind of my earlier judgment back on the fall

1:21.0

that there's a good chance of DFCA will eventually be lost.

1:24.5

What does it say about the manpower situation of the Russian army that Putin seems an associated

forces of course that Putin seems comfortable

1:34.6

throwing all these people into that meat grinder it doesn't seem like there's any

change in the Russian concept of operations it's just this very relentless willingness to accept lots of

casualties approach to war. So they tried a mechanized breakthrough back in the
