Summary

Are you worried that wanting more money is greedy? Does talking or even thinking about money make you uncomfortable? Whether you love money and want more of it, think money is the root of all evil, or anywhere in between, this episode will help you understand why unf*cking your thoughts around money is such an important feminist issue.

You will meet three graduates from my Advanced Certification in Feminist Coaching program - Chernique Vertus, Keli Jackson, and Natasha Tekeste - for a frank conversation about why women find it so controversial to want money, what keeps women from making more money, why making money is a social justice issue, and how to use coaching tools to shift your money mindset.

Tara Lowenthal. Hello, my chickens. If there is one thing that I get the most diverse reactions

0:35.4

we're talking about on the podcast, it is money. Some people think it's the root of all

that have specific socialization around money, around not talking about money, around

0:55.2

not being seen to want money, around not advocating for money. And what we know happens is that

1:02.5

then who ends up with more money, it's not women, right? And this is intensified for any

1:08.6

marginalized identity that you inhabit. Something we talk about quite a lot in the advanced

1:13.4

certification and feminist coaching is the ways in which socialization around money

1:18.4

starts very early for women and predisposes them to focus on budgeting, on being thrifty,

1:26.6

on not monetizing things, on sort of delivering work and service and effort out of love and

1:34.0

emotion, whereas men are socialized to think about making money, creating money, investing,

1:41.1

taking risks, charging for their services, all that stuff. So whether you're a danders

1:46.5

up or you're totally on board, I really recommend you listen to this episode. It's an amazing

1:51.0

conversation with three of my colleagues, coaches. They all are students of mine who went

through my advanced certification and feminist coaching, but we're already well experienced

coaches before that. And we are really digging into talking about money, gender, race, mindset,

2:10.0

and how all of those things combine to keep women more economically dispossessed by a magnitude

of however many exponentially based on how many marginalized identities they live in.

So I hope you enjoy this conversation. I thought it was rich and fascinating and I'm
