U.S. stocks finished lower today, and precious metals like gold and silver retreated from recent highs.

The Dow was down a half a percent, the S&P 500 was down 0.3 percent, and the NASDAQ edged down a tenth of a percent. Oil prices declined more than 1 percent, following news that Israel and Hamas signed

off on the first phase of a peace deal. Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury said it bought Argentinian

pesos in a bid to support the country's economic overhaul. Among individual stocks,

shares of Delta Airlines rose 4% after its quarterly results topped forecasts and its upbeat

holiday outlook bolstered rival carriers. MP material stock increased nearly 2.5% after China

tightened its export controls on rare earth

metals. Shares of Nvidia climbed almost 2 percent to a record after the U.S. approved chip exports

to the United Arab Emirates. Tesla stock fell three quarters of a percent after traffic safety

regulators opened an investigation into the company's self-driving system.

A caro therapeutics shares jumped 16% on news that Novo Nordisk agreed to acquire the company for up to

$5.2 billion. And Costco shares rose 3% after the retailer reported an increase in sales.
