The When I recorded today's Advent calendar episodes with Emmy, I have to say I wasn't particularly pleased with my uninspired answer of Charlie Brooker and

Jordan Peel as potential writers of a new Twilight Zone where there was only one writer doing the

show. And this has haunted me ever since I recorded this, so instead of recording a whole new episode with Emmy because at least she brought something good to the table,

I thought I would record a brief addendum with a choice that I am a lot happier with.

So my choice for a new Twilight Zone writer would be Nathaniel Halpin.

Now if you don't know who he is, he wrote all eight episodes of a 2020 Amazon Prime TV show

called Tales from the Loop, which is based on an art book by Simon Stalinghag.

And it's a beautiful book and the television show really captures the look and feel of it perfectly.

And what the show is about is the fictional town of Mercer, Ohio,

a town which is home to the Mercer Center for Experimental

Physics, which is also known as the Loop.

Now we never truly get to know what exactly they do in the center, but it is said that

it's a place where the researchers attempt to make the impossible possible.

I suppose a real world similarity would be if a town were built on a Hadron Collider or something like that.

And this facility in the show is a source of employment for the townspeople,

whether it's working inside the facility or just as security at the gate. It's one of those situations where a business or a factory

becomes really integrated with the people's lives and there's this kind of symbiotic relationship

between the people and the loop everyone is aware of it some people are involved with it

and it's just their way of life now the effect of that is that whatever is going on in that

facility tends to affect the town in various ways,
