Let's get going. In a last-ditch attempt to other a new wave of strikes in the public sector,

ministers in the health, education and transport departments invited union leaders in for talks today.

Now, the highest profile, one of these, so strikes which relate to the collapsing health service.

So, health secretary Steve Barclay was under particular pressure. He doesn't appear to have

got the good stuff. An acre sab is lead national officer for Unite who represent part of the

ambulance workforce. The government have missed yet another opportunity to pop this right. We came

here in good faith. What they want to talk about is productivity. Productivity, when our members

are working 18 hour shifts, how you become more productive with that, I do not know, but today

unfortunately, despite us showing up in good faith, the government have missed yet another

opportunity to pop this right. And what will happen is that the strike action taken place by

Unite members, our ambulance workers, and I think it is important to remember this is about

across the NHS. This isn't just nurses, everybody who works across the NHS is just as important.

Our ambulance members will be taking strike action on the 20th out of very disappointed today,

but unfortunately, not surprised. Ambulance workers are set to go out on strike this Wednesday,

and then again, on the 23rd of January. There was no more success in discussion over nurses pay.

Now the lead negotiator for the Royal College of Nurses gave this statement following their
