The funeral has taken place of Tyree Nichols who died after being beaten by police during

a traffic stop in the US City of Memphis. Britain has been experiencing its most disruptive

days of strikes for a decade as teachers, civil servants and transport workers call for

better pay and conditions. Israeli forces have demolished three Palestinian properties

in occupied East Jerusalem after a controversial push by the far right police minister to clear

buildings without permits. Also in this podcast.

So why is peaceful Switzerland resounding to the noise of sirens?

We begin in the US City of Memphis.

The funeral has taken place of Tyree Nichols, an African-American man who died after being

beaten by police officers in the city last month. Mr Nichols died three days after being

stopped by police for an alleged traffic violation.

Traffic footage showed him being punched, kicked and hit with a bat on. Five officers involved

in the incident have been arrested on charges including 2nd degree murder.

Well hundreds of mourners including the civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton attended

the service in the Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church.
