So when I first started my career, I was working in recruitment. In the US you call it headhunting.

I was working in Sydney, Australia. And a lot of the time my job required me doing cold calling, which is essentially calling up strangers and asking

them to take a meeting with you because you'd like to help them.

In that case, I was helping them find staff for their teams.

And so doing cold calling is very uncomfortable for a lot of people.

Of course it was naturally uncomfortable for me at first.

So I had to call different numbers, ask to speak to people and human resources and see if they'd meet with me.

Cold calling is scary, people can be rude to you, you can be rejected a lot.

And so naturally each day when it came for me to make my calls, my marketing calls, I didn't want to do it.

I'd put it off. I would, gosh, you know, walk to the water cooler, head to the snack cupboards, I would do anything, right, to avoid picking

up the phone and dialing numbers and trying to connect with people. But what got me going, because I knew I couldn't avoid it. If I was going to succeed, I had to go through it. I had to just suck it up and just do the work, right? Make it happen.
