Summary

Is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer the best book of all time? No it’s not. Is it the kind of cotton candy escapism joy we need during these uncertain times? Hell yes it is.

You may remember BFFs Vanessa Zoltan & Julia Argy from their all-star advice giving in Season 1. In this mini-season they’re sheltering in place in different cities, but they’re getting on the phone three times a week to read and talk about Twilight. On Twilight in Quarantine, they’ll work their way through the Twilight saga one chapter at a time, giving brilliant well-informed advice to Stephenie Meyer and her characters along the way.

In this episode, Vanessa and Julia read Chapter 1. They meet Bella and Edward for the first time and they are concerned about them.

down and prepared. Now if there's one thing I learned from season one of Hot and Bathered, it's that I think people

are serious about making romance related stuff when they are just kidding, like Ariana, when she said that we should make a romance podcast.

Turned out that she was kidding while I was busily

already brainstorming title ideas.

So I was hedging when I responded to Julia,

0:56.5

that's actually a good idea, just in case she was joking.

1:07.6

I realized that saying that's actually good idea meant that I ended up just sounding surprised that Julia has good ideas once in a while, which is not the case. She's full of good ideas. She just

1:16.6

got a puppy. But I was right to hedge like that because it turns out the Julia was kidding about making this

1:25.3

podcast mini-series but here's the thing just because someone was kidding does

1:30.3

not make their idea bad. So why locked up? does not read

1:35.0

read about people,

1:38.0

read about people getting so close to each other,

1:41.6

they drink each other's blood. And honestly, why not spend a few

hours a week laughing with one of my best friends? So here we are reading

twilight in quarantine. Because it was actually a good idea.

Finally you had one. Now granted some people are using quarantine time to teach themselves French, or embroidery, or pick up the bag pipes for the first time in years.

But if you know me at all, you know that the thing that I do when I'm in trouble is read a romance novel.
