Welcome back to Mama Mystery. I am your host, Kelly, and today is an episode of the weekly

docket where we recap the top headlines in true crime for the week. As you may already know,

my deep dive this week was on the Banfield case,

the Opaire affair. Brendan Banfield's trial wrapped up last week, and then the jury deliberated

this week to deliver his verdict. And so I wanted to make sure I had all of that information

in the weekly docket, which is why it was a day late, because I really wanted to be sure to include that.

But if you listen to that, you know, we also talked about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, which has just been dominating social media and the news and really my mind.

I don't know if it's been dominating your guysises like it has mine, but I am very intrigued

by this case. So that is the one that we are going to open with right now. So if you don't already

know, I'm going to give you a little background information and then just everything there is

to know about this case so far, what's been verified, what's not verified. And so with that,

let's go ahead and just dive in with

our first story this case has captured national attention not just for who it involves but for how

quickly what seemed like ordinary life turned into a nightmare i mean it's actually kind of baffling

to watch this all play out and not feel like we're watching a movie.

Like this does not feel like real life at all.

So the woman at the center of this story is 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, a longtime resident of the Catalina Foothills area, which is just north of Tucson, Arizona.

Now, Nancy is not just any missing person.

She's the mother of Savannah Guthrie, who

was a co-anchor of NBC's Today Show, so a very prominent figure, a famous person. Savannah has

shared the spotlight with her mom over the years, and their close relationship has really
