Summary

God is not deaf to the cries of his people, which means He is not deaf to the cry of evil. The God of the Bible is not disconnected to our pain and suffering, but is actively at work bringing His purposes for the World and using suffering for good. The family of faith in American has been given a mission to cry out against the evil we see in our country, and we have abandoned that mission. Our reaction to God is similar to that of Jonah, who was given the mission by God to reach the people of Nineveh, and who said no to God’s instruction. Maybe the destruction and divisiveness we see in the United States are God’s waves and whale — afflicting us because we have said no to His calling. To fix this, and restore our covenant with God, we need to align ourselves with the mission that God gave us when America was first born.
