Approaching two weeks into the investigation of the Brumbac killings, the Omaha community

is getting restless, and more importantly, is on edge, fearing that a killer is still

on the loose, with seemingly no-end in sight.

As we have seen from recent cases that have been covered ad nauseam not only by mainstream

media, but on social media as well, that the direct result of this is mass speculation,

which is never a good thing.

The fact of the matter is, despite the advances that have occurred over the last couple of

decades, in terms of the public, not only having access to information that was not previously

available to society at large, but that the public now has a voice and the ability to

have that voice heard, and in many cases taken as fact.

Despite that what they may be promulgating is patently false or, at best, pure speculation

that is being put forth as if it is fact.

It's no mystery why the speculation starts.

Look, we are not a patient society.

We want answers and we want them now.

So during an active investigation, when law enforcement is stonewalling us because they

are trying to maintain the integrity of their investigation, we become restless, and

restlessness turns into speculation.

The reality is that law enforcement over the years has not changed all that much in terms

of keeping what's going on internally with its investigation tightly buttoned down.
