Today on Flightless Bird, I'm meeting an American woman who's digging a tunnel under her suburban home.

And I'm just wondering what you think of people that dig tunnels under their suburban homes.

Is this a particularly American activity?

Are they kind of like a mole people over there? That wasn't something that I knew about them.

No, look, I've got to be honest, there are a lot of tunnel diggers all over the world, including myself and New Zealand as a child,

but this is one particularly enthusiastic woman who happens to be an American. I fully support

and endorse it. And I think there is something uniquely human about wanting to dig a big tunnel and just

disappear because you just need to be in a tunnel.

You need to be where it's dark and peaceful and no one can bother you and no one can

call you, talk on flightless bird.

And it's beautiful and dark and wet and you just want to be in a
