President Biden will visit Israel. The House is expected to vote on a new speaker and

United Airlines will be treating window seats a little differently. That's some of

what we'll get to on the 7th from the

Washington Post. I'm Jeff Pierre. It's Tuesday, October 17th. Let's get you caught

up with today's 7 stories.

At number one, the president plans to visit Israel tomorrow to show support following Hamas

his deadly attack on October 7th.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinking announced Biden's visit.

The President will reaffirm the United States solidarity with Israel and our ironclad commitment to its security.

President Biden will again make clear as he's done unequivocally since Hamas a slaughter of more than 1,400 people,

including at least 30 Americans, that Israel has the right and indeed

the duty to defend its people from Hamas and other terrorists and to prevent future attacks.

On his visit, the White House says Biden will learn more about the hostages held captive in Gaza,

which include an unknown number of Americans.

Biden will then travel to Jordan to meet with Arab leaders to discuss Gaza's growing humanitarian crisis.

The president's visit comes after Blinken spent seven and a half hours in a meeting with Israeli officials yesterday.

They negotiated over getting aid into Gaza and creating safe zones for Palestinian

civilians.

In Gaza, as many as a million people may have been displaced.

They're fleeing Israeli airstrikes and an expected ground

invasion, which Israel says will eliminate Hamas from the territory.
