Hey friends, welcome back to yet another episode of Everyday Truth as we delve into Proverbs chapter 1 we

are in verse 7 and maybe the most familiar verse in the Proverbs is verse 7 certainly

a purpose verse for us to consider it says says this, the fear of the Lord, and remember,

the fear of the Lord is a reverential awe for God. It's not that I'm cowering in fear or that

God's going to beat me up. No, that would be a naive view of God. No, it's the idea that I respect him and I'm living in the awe of his presence.

And really what it implies is that I practice the presence of God in my life.

Think about how differently we would behave if we made our decisions and engaged in our

activities and displayed attitudes that were always with the consciousness that God is there,

that God is present. So the Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

You can't really begin to know things. You can't really begin to understand things until you,

first of all, practice the presence of God in your life. It becomes the swimming pool that we swim in to learn. It's the starting

point. So the Bible says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools. Remember

we talked about those categories of people yesterday? We talked about the simple one and the fool. The fool is one that

knows what God says academically. It's not that he can't understand it. Unsaid people can

understand academically the Bible. They're not going to understand it in a spiritual discerning way.

But the Bible says the fool or fools despise wisdom and instruction.

What a strong word to despise, to hate, to loathe, to abhor, to totally denigrate.

And a fool hates wisdom and knowledge. Why? Because typically that's going
