| 0:14.0 | Headlines have been coming out as fast and furiously about the impending crisis of a necessity |
| 0:19.7 | of raising the nation's debt limit. |
| 0:21.9 | That can only be done by Congress in concert with the president of the United States. |
| 0:26.3 | It is not something counter to so many theories, particularly from the left out there, that |
| 0:31.6 | can be done by presidential fiat. |
| 0:33.6 | This requires a deal between the president and Congress. |
| 0:38.1 | But that's where things get really tricky right now, because it's hard to get a deal |
| 0:42.0 | between this president and this Congress, in particular, between the Democratic President |
| 0:47.0 | Joe Biden and the Republican majority in the House of Representatives. |
| 0:50.7 | But what's going to make this story really interesting in worldview terms is that the |
| 0:55.0 | picture is, if anything, a lot more complicated than that. |
| 0:59.1 | For one thing, the big headlines that came at us just in the last several hours had to |
| 1:03.0 | do the fact that a deal has been struck we are told between the Republican leader in this |
| 1:07.5 | case, that means the Speaker of the House, California, Republican, Kevin McCarthy, and |
| 1:12.8 | the president of the United States, Joe Biden. |
| 1:15.9 | Now why those two? |
| 1:16.9 | Well, it is because those two are the leaders of their parties where it matters in this case. |
