Hey friends, welcome back. We're in First Kings 22, the last chapter of this great book in the Bible.

And we're talking about the last chapter of Ahab's life. What a troubled life it was.

And he's about to make a really, really poor choice based upon just pride. But he's not the

only one making a poor choice because he has invited Jahashafat to become a part of this project,

this campaign against Ramoth and Gilead. And we learned last episode that Jahashavat did something

really unwise. He made a commitment to Ahab without making a commitment to finding out what God's

will was on the matter. Now, he does want to know, but he got the order in reverse.

So now what Ahab has done is said, hey, if you really want to know what God thinks about this,

I have all kinds of men of God, quote unquote, that will tell you what God said.

And so what does Ahab do? He brings in 400 prophets who claim to be prophets of God, but they're not at all.

All they are are yes men who are telling Ahab exactly what he already wants to hear and claiming

it's the word of God. It sounds a lot like the majority of preachers today. People that are bent upon building an audience

instead of obeying God. That's not to say that if someone has an audience that they're not

right with God. It is to say that the purpose of ministry is not to draw a crowd. It's not to build a church

numerically necessarily, but to tell the truth. Paul warned Timothy about this in 2nd

Timothy chapter 4. What he said, the time will come when they will heap to themselves

teachers having itching ears and it shall turn away their ears
