0:07.5	I'm Albert Moeller, and this is the briefing, a daily analysis of news and events
0:11.6	from a Christian worldview. The Supreme Court of the
0:14.5	United States announced on Sunday that it would hand down a ruling yesterday
0:18.9	as to whether or not a decision by the Supreme Court of Colorado would stand that
0:24.9	would bar Donald Trump from being a candidate in the Republican primary which
0:29.9	by the way will come as a part of Super Tuesday today.
0:33.6	Yesterday, the Supreme Court of the United States contravened the Supreme Court of the
0:37.8	state of Colorado by stating that the state of Colorado, and in particular in this case, the state Supreme Court has no right to strike anyone from the federal
0:46.3	ballot. That is a power that is restricted to the United States of America
0:51.2	when it comes to a national election, even if the election
0:54.3	is conducted by the state. The Colorado Supreme Court had made its ruling on the
0:59.8	basis of what it claimed was a barring of the candidate in this case Donald Trump
1:04.3	according to section 3 of the 14th amendment to the United States Constitution
1:08.9	adopted after the Civil War that amendment with that section barred anyone from the ballot who was
1:16.2	guilty of being an insurrectionist.
1:19.0	Now from the start, this was a very questionable decision, and that's to state the very least simply because
1:25.3	Donald Trump though he is facing some very serious legal charges including criminal charges at this point
1:31.0	including some charges related to the events of January 6, 2021.
1:36.2	The fact is he has not yet been found guilty, and in particular he has not been convicted
1:40.8	of being an insurrectionist, and he has not been struck from the ballot
1:44.6	by any lawful federal authority. So the Supreme Court ruling was 9-0. That's really
