More than a thousand schools in LA will be shut down today and President Biden is

naming two new national monuments. I'm Jeff Pierre and this is the seven from the

Let's get you caught up with today seven stories.

First up, China's president met with Russian president Vladimir Putin yesterday.

Jee Jin Ping is in Moscow for three days and formal talks begin today. This is the strongest show of support for Russia since

Moscow invaded Ukraine last year. The two presidents are trying to position themselves as

leaders of a new world order, one in which the US and NATO can no longer dictate things.

Number two, scientists have issued another dire warning about climate change.

It's all but inevitable that the world will surpass 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming within

the next decade.

This is according to a new report from the

United Nations. Beyond that threshold, climate disasters will become so extreme

that people won't be able to adapt. But there's still hope. The world has the knowledge, tools, and

financial resources needed to achieve its climate goals. Countries just need to use those resources

to take bold drastic action. Number three, officials are watching out for Trump-related protests.

Former President Donald Trump could face criminal charges in New York as soon as this week.

The investigation involves hush money that Trump's lawyer paid to an adult film star in 2016

while he was running for president. Trump has called for protests to oppose what

he's called his looming arrest. Authorities in New York, Atlanta, and Palm Beach, Florida

are preparing responses to possible demonstrations, but there are no signs that large-scale

violence is being planned.
