It's Tuesday, March 11th. Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Number one. All three major U.S. stock indexes slumped yesterday. President Donald Trump's

escalating trade war is driving fears about the stability

of the economy. Investors are unsettled by Trump's willingness to impose tariffs that go beyond

his campaign promises. And their concerns were amplified over the weekend when Trump refused to

rule out the possibility that the U.S. is headed for a

recession. At market close yesterday, the Dow Jones was down 890 points. The S&P 500 fell 2.7 percent,

and the NASDAQ plummeted 4%. Trump's senior advisors downplayed the fresh economic turbulence.

Here's top administration economist Kevin Hassett talking on CNBC yesterday.

There are a lot of reasons to be extremely bullish about the economy going forward.

But for sure, this quarter, there are some blips of the data, including the

negative GDP Dow, which are related both to the Biden inheritance and to some, you know,

timing effects that are happening ahead of tariffs.

His comments didn't appear to immediately convince investors. The CBO volatility index,

known as Wall Street's fear gauge, jumped 19.5% by the end of the trading day.

U.S. and Ukrainian officials are holding talks today on ending the war with Russia. That's number two. The talks are taking

place in Saudi Arabia, and the stakes are high. It's the first meeting between U.S. Secretary
