Before we get into today's news, I want to call it a correction from yesterday, I accidentally

said that England defeated Italy in the European Soccer Championship when actually it was

the other way around, with Italy defeating England.

And this is why I generally stay away from sports reporting.

However, for our first story, we should talk about the extreme racism that has been directed

towards three England players who missed their penalty kicks in the final.

Marcus Rashford, Jaden Sancio, and Bukaya Sakka, all of whom are black.

Prince William, who happens to serve as the president of England's football association,

who knew, wrote on Twitter that he was sickened by the racist abuse aimed at the three players.

And the football association also urged the British government to create legislation to criminalize

online harassment, and cause on social media companies to do more to remove abusive users.

Which is all really amazing, but Lake, did we really need a soccer game for that to happen?

For our next story, we finally have some people who are willing to get creative at stopping voter

suppression. Yesterday, the Democrats of the Texas legislature fled to Washington, D.C.,

where they plan to remain for several weeks in order to bring the legislature to a halt,

and therefore prevent the passage of the voter suppression law.

The Democrats kept planning this a secret, and they fled in private planes in order to avoid

being legally compelled to return to the state capital. And this is all just days before the Texas

House of Representatives was planning to take up the new voting law in a special legislative session

ordered by Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who should be worrying about the electricity.
