Sometimes we call the way to the cross the Via Del Marosa way, via De La Rosa suffering, the way of suffering.

Now, there's some debate about what the actual road was. You can go to Israel today and walk down the Via Del Maraosa.

And I'm not sure. Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure it wasn't the way that Jesus walked. But the fact is,

Jesus did make his way from the trial to the cross. That's what we're going to talk about today.

Hey friends, welcome back, Matthew chapter 27, and we are actually sitting before Pilot.

Pilot is doing everything he can to try to extricate himself from this pickle that he finds

himself in.

Matthew's gospel doesn't share the fact that he even sent Jesus

away to Herod Antipas, who was also at that feast, just to try to pass the buck. And that

didn't work. Look at verse 24, when Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing but that rather a tumult was made

and this is the worst thing this is the worst thing for a roman leader that he is not getting

his way and the crowd is becoming more and more whipped into this frenzy.

And that's bad because if there's unrest in any part of the kingdom,

then they're just going to fire the king or worse.

So pilot knows this is bad.

Verse 24, he took water.

He washed his hands before the multitude.

We even use that term today.
