| 0:00.0 | Today is Tuesday, January 26th, and you're listening to the morning announcements. |
| 0:06.8 | I'm Sammy Sage. |
| 0:10.6 | We have a bunch of drama this morning coming out of the Senate, some good, some bad, and some ugly behavior for Mitch McConnell, which is hardly news. Let's start with an easy story. The articles of impeachment were ceremoniously delivered to the Senate last night by the House impeachment managers and the trial is still slated to begin on February 8th. |
| 0:30.0 | Unlike with Trump's last impeachment trial, I can't believe we're talking about a last impeachment trial, |
| 0:35.0 | where Chief Justice John Roberts presided, this one will be presided over by Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy. |

| 1:29.9 | While this is not usually a big deal, Mitch has decided to make it one and use this as a bargaining |
| 1:33.9 | chip so that majority leader Chuck Schumer will formally commit to not getting rid of the |
| 1:38.0 | filibuster. |
| 1:39.0 | For those who are not familiar with complicated Senate rules, the filibuster is a rule that requires most legislation |
| 1:44.4 | to receive 60 votes in the Senate in order to pass. |
| 1:47.8 | This would make it easy for whoever has the majority status to easily pass anything they |
