Number one, historic rainfall is drenching California. A powerful storm is bringing record rain, heavy snowfall, serious flooding and landslides to the state.

The hardest hit places span from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles, where many areas received

between 4 and 6 inches, with some spots passing ten inches over 24 hours.

Yesterday evening, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass gave updates on the storm damage.

This has been a tough day for our city, a tough day for Angelinos, and I have spent time with our fire chief going around town looking at some of the, what is really devastation for many homeowners and residents who have had to suffer from mudslides related to the storm.

By late yesterday, officials in Los Angeles said the city had seen over 120 mudslides and debris flows.

Sunday was the 10th wetest day in LA's history, dating back nearly 150 years.

And in Northern California, at least three people were killed by downed trees.

The storm is expected to ease today. Number two. Nevada is holding a Republican presidential primary and

caucuses this week. This is a unique and pretty confusing scenario.

A new Nevada state law requires primary elections to be held if there's more than one candidate on the ballot.

But Nevada Republicans found a loophole to award its delegates through caucuses instead. So both a primary

and caucuses are being held. And even more confusingly, each event has a different set

of candidates. Nicky Haley is running in today's primary but not Thursday's caucuses, and Donald

Trump is only taking part in the caucuses.

That's the one where the results actually matter, and he will probably pick up all 26 delegates.
