Good afternoon from the KUOW Newsroom. This is Seattle now. I'm Paige Browning with a roundup of today's top stories. It's Tuesday, January 20th.

Starting with an immigration enforcement interruption at school.

Two Seattle Public Schools issued shelter-in-place orders today after what school officials say were credible reports of federal immigration enforcement activity in the community.

Acki-Korosi Middle School in Hillman City and Cleveland STEM High School in Beacon Hill both locked their doors and kept students inside for lunch.

Cleveland principal, Jeff Lamb, later lifted the order but said he was keeping staff positioned around campus to keep an eye on things.

Seattle Children's Theater is withdrawing from an upcoming two-week run of shows at the

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Nearly a year ago, President Trump was

named chairman of the Kennedy Center's board. Noel Gaska has more today.

SET was slated to bring a new play, Young Dragon, a Bruce Lee story, to the venue in April.

The production was co-commissioned by the Kennedy Center and has been in the works for two years.

Kevin Malgasini, the managing director for SCT, says the landscape has changed, and the decision was reached after meetings with staff, actors, and the family of Bruce Lee.

We just wanted to take the time to really hear from everybody and consider the impacts,

particularly the impacts on the artists who are planning on those two weeks of work in D.C.

That was top of mind for us.

The Kennedy Center was contracted to pay S.C. $80,000 to cover production costs and actor salaries during the DC run.

Malgassini says they could extend the show's local schedule to close that financial gap.
