Hey guys, welcome back to today's episode of Everyday Truth.

We are winding down here to the last few days of the year.

And currently it is December 30th as you're listening to this.

And I wanted to just give you a couple thoughts here at the end of the year that might

help better frame the way that you plan or make decisions about or even in this next year.

We've been talking a bit yesterday about why we tend to not keep our resolutions.

I know that's kind of a negative title, but we have to understand.

Why do we consistently fail at keeping our word?

And we talked about seven of those reasons yesterday.

Today I thought I would just maybe get a little bit more specific about what is that one thing? That maybe that one thing

that is keeping you from being effective for the Lord. Maybe that one thing that's holding you back.

I would go all in for the Lord. I that one thing that's holding you back, I would go all in for the Lord,

I would sell out for Christ if it weren't for, and then fill in that blank. Because we see that throughout scripture, I think about the rich young ruler who had so carefully itemized the things they had done for the Lord.

Of course, it was a legalistic approach, and there's a whole lot more going on in the story.

But remember, the one thing for him was just his love for his attachment to stuff or riches that kept him, that choked out the word of God in his life,

as Jesus suggested in the parable of the sower in Matthew 13. As Paul warned us in 1 Timothy 6

about the love of money being the root of all evil. But I think a really good passage for us to consider

when it comes to what is that one thing? Maybe you're a teenager listening to this podcast and

you really want to make a difference in your school year, second semester, or maybe a college
