0:00.0 | Hey guys, glad to be back and looking forward to talking a bit about the generations of Ishmael, |
0:07.3 | just a really short section of our podcast today, but then the generations of Isaac. |
0:13.6 | And how Isaac really, the first thing that said about him in his story is really a good thing. What was that good thing? We'll find |
0:23.9 | all about it on today's podcast. Welcome to Everyday Truth with Kurt Skelly. We believe the Bible |
0:30.5 | is true and relevant to everyone, everywhere, every day. If today's conversation is a help to you, take a moment to leave a review |
0:40.1 | or share it with a friend. Thanks for listening. Now, let's join Kurt for today's episode. |
0:46.2 | Hello there, friends. Welcome back to today's episode. We are in Genesis 25. We ended yesterday talking about Abraham being buried at Macpola. |
1:01.1 | And I think I failed to mention that that's significant because remember Abraham had purchased. |
1:09.1 | And that's specifically what it says in verse 10, the field which |
1:13.2 | Abraham purchased. And what's interesting about that is that God obviously had promised that land to |
1:19.4 | Abraham, but Abraham never really realized ownership of the land all of his days. He was a tent |
1:27.4 | dweller. And while he had that great promise, |
1:30.7 | and while the land eventually was occupied by the people, the sons of Abraham, he never really |
1:36.9 | had a part of that land except for that one little piece of ground that he bought, that he purchased. So there's ownership. |
1:46.4 | And I find in that story just a great parallel to our story as sons of Abraham, that God has |
1:55.2 | given us great promises, heaven and a future with no sorrow and no pain and new bodies and just all of the prospect of |
2:05.2 | what God has prepared for those that love him. And yet we only have a small portion of it today, |
2:11.5 | don't we? The earnest of the inheritance. So just as Abraham had things that were real, that were part of the blessings of God, |
2:19.9 | they were minuscule in light of what he would receive. And so he just walked by faith, |
2:27.7 | believing that there was something more. And that's what we do. And I just wanted to point that |
2:33.1 | out because it's a marvelous kind of exclamation point |
2:37.4 | on the life of Abraham. |
