Let's start with some direct show-in trial updates.

We heard from three witnesses yesterday.

The first was the emergency room doctor who tried to save George Floyd's life for 30 minutes

before he pronounced him dead, who stated that he believed Floyd died of a lack of oxygen.

The second witness was Police Chief Medaria Aradondo, who was the one to actually fire

Chauvin in June.

He testified that Chauvin absolutely violated department policies, and that Chauvin had

failed to follow policies on de-escalation, use the force, and the duty to render aid to

people in need.

The final witness of the day, Inspector Kate Blackwell, testified about the training at

the Minneapolis Police Department, and said that neck restraints were not taught.

Together all this testimony paints a picture that Chauvin was liable for killing Floyd rather

than following his police training.

The U.S. and Aradon announced that they're beginning indirect negotiations through intermediaries

today in Vienna to try to get both countries back into compliance with the 2015 Aradon

deal.

Agreement on the start of indirect talks came after the European Union help broker a virtual

meeting of officials from Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and Iran, all of which

have remained in the deal.
