Former President Donald Trump is expected to appear in court today.

We're also focusing on key elections in Chicago and Wisconsin.

Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

First up a New York grand jury made the unprecedented decision to indict Donald Trump

last week that means he's charged with one or more crimes.

The panel had been hearing evidence related to hush money paid to an adult film star during

Trump's 2016 campaign.

This afternoon he's expected to turn himself over and appear for an arraignment.

An arraignment is the first appearance before a judge after an arrest or surrender.

Trump will learn the specific charges against him and probably

enter a plea of not guilty. A judge also typically sets the next court date

along with any bail requirements. Trump will most likely be released without paying bail.

All of this is historic.

It's the first time someone who served as president has been charged with a crime. Number two, Chicago will choose a new mayor today.

Two Democrats, Paul Vallis and Brandon Johnson, advanced to a runoff after February's election.

The incumbent Mayor Lori Lightfoot was pushed out.

Valis is a former chief executive of Chicago Public Schools. Johnson is a Cook County

Commissioner. The runoff is expected to be tight. The two candidates offer sharply

different strategies on crime, which is the main concern for voters in Chicago.

That's the nation's third largest city. Number three, there's another key election today in Wisconsin. This one is for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. It's become the most expensive judicial race in US history.
