Before we start this episode, I want to put a trigger warning due to the copious number

of stories today about police brutality, murder, and generally disturbing content.

As I'm sure you've heard by now on Sunday in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, right outside

of Minneapolis, a police officer fatally shot 20-year-old Dante Wright, who was on arm

during a traffic stop where Wright was pulled over because of air fresheners hanging in his

car.

After the very warrants did outcry, police immediately released body camera footage

and held a press conference Monday morning, where they claimed that the shooting was an

accidental discharge and that the officer thought she was using her taser gun.

In the video, you can hear her shouting, taser, taser, before realizing she had used her

gun.

The officer who shot Wright has been placed on administrative leave, but not fired.

I should note that this was happening literally 10 miles away from where Derek Chauvin is

currently on trial, and last night the governor of Minnesota announced he's going to demand

the state legislature hold hearings on reforms of policing.

I guess this brings us to updates from Monday's testimony in the Derek Chauvin trial.

The first witness yesterday was Dr. Jonathan Rich, a cardiologist and expert witness who

testified that he is confident Floyd did not die of sudden heart attack or from a drug overdose

and that he would have survived if it had not been for Chauvin's restraining him.
