Let's start with the summary of the Derek Chauvin trial from Friday.

On Friday, we heard testimony from Dr. Andrew Baker, the medical examiner who autops

he George Floyd and determined that he died from cardiopulmonary arrest and declared

his death a homicide caused by law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression.

He also testified that he did not find any pill fragments in Floyd's stomach, which is

relevant to the defense's suggestion that Floyd's followed pills right before they subdued

him.

Remember the pill fragments they found in the car six months after he died?

Those pill fragments.

She also heard from forensic pathologist Dr. Lindsey Thomas, who testified as an expert

witness and actually was the one to train Dr. Baker as a medical examiner.

She said that she agreed with Baker's assessment that Floyd died of lack of oxygen and that

both his heart and lungs stopped working.

She also discounted heart disease and the presence of fentanyl and methamphetamine as causes

of death.

Dr. Thomas further explained a secondary factor for Floyd's death called physiological stress,

which is the kind of stress someone would feel the second they're about to be in a car

crash, as in the adrenaline response to fearing for your life.
