The 49ers blockbuster trade-up to the third overall pick in next month's draft

is still causing waves around the lead.

While addressing reporters on

Monday, general manager John Lynch confirmed he'll be taking a quarterback with that pick and has no

plans to trade current starter Jimmy Carapolo. Here's what head coach Kyle Shanahan did say about the big

move. You got to take risks and this is a risk we were willing to take. We looked at

how our four years have gone. We looked at how we want the next four years to go. It looked

where we're at in the draft and the options that are there. And that's why sitting there

looking at this stuff since January and going all the way through the process. I felt pretty

strongly we're going to get left at the altar sitting there at 12th.

They would have been behind the Lions who currently possess the seventh overall selection.

An NFL draft analyst Lance Urline just released his 3.0 mock draft.

And he has Detroit giving newly acquired quarterback Jared Goff, wide receiver help with Alabama's Devonte Smith.

The Lions' new head coach, Dan Campbell,

sharing his thoughts on adding new talent like golf, defensive lineman Michael Brockers,

and running back Jamal Williams to the franchise.
