dating and relationships he is the advice columnist called the love doc we have

brought to you our audience audience, the love doc.

Dan, tell us about yourself.

Okay, I've started working at the Austin Chronicle, which is a local arts entertainment news

weekly. It is an awesome paper in Austin

Texas by the way. It is the go-to paper for kind of what's the the beat of the

city. Where South by Southwest was started the Austin Chronicle and the paper's been around since

1981, September 4th, 1981 was the first issue. I started working there in 1988 as the

personal's guy I guess. All right so we got to tell you the personals back then were huge in that paper because we didn't have the internet right?

We didn't have you know all of tender and

Vats.com. It was it was the back of theicle in Austin Texas. That's how you made the connections right?

Yeah, we had our internet was a MAC Plus with a bunch of floppy disk they had to swap out.

So the personals functioned as you know like a

match.com does now only it was a classified thing. You ended up having a lot of people sort of right in trying to find

matches. That was I mean that's and that's the interesting thing. One of the things we

talk about a lot on our podcast which is why we've decided to bring the love dock on is how do people pick their

partners how do they mate how do they choose how do they make it happen and how do they

stay in a relationship so we do it from a brain science perspective it you had the finger on on the pulse all the way from the 1980s to currently
