That doesn't sound that long ago, but it's almost five years.

Today's episode was originally episode 2290, Derek Boodle,

on defending families from CPS. That would be child protective services.

If you've never heard about some of the extreme abuses within the world of CPS,

that may strike you as odd that we would need to protect families from CPS.

Let me phrase it a different way and immediately if this is if you're new to this.

And this is a really important topic. It's why I chose it for today's rewind.

Instead of thinking of it as child protective services, which is a name.

So instead of thinking about what was done after 9-11 to spy on Americans

and have massive oversight that's completely unconstitutional into their private lives,

instead of calling that the Patriot Act, you should talk about the government surveillance program

for American citizens pretending to be for foreign terrorists.

Then you're like, oh yeah, I can see where that would go wrong.

So instead of thinking of this as child protective services, which is a clever marketing brand,

and I'm sure that they do at times help kids who are in really bad situations.

It's not always what you're going to hear about today, but it's often what you're going to hear about today.
