First John 4 is our text where we get this phrase from.

He said verse 1, 1 John 4 1.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they're of God.

Because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

When he says try the spirits, that word try means to test or to examine to prove and so um we're testing them to what end

whether they're of God or not.

So just the fact that it says spirits, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, are there spirits?

This is not human beings, flesh and blood, that he's talking about.

You know, Jesus said that, because after he was raised from the dead, and they saw him,

the disciples saw him at one point they were scared, he said, touch me because a spirit doesn't have flesh and bone
