If you've got a family or you otherwise spend your days off with the same people, keeping everyone happy can be hard, but it is not impossible.

Combining adventures can make everyone want to be adventurous.

Today's tip, like a few others over the next few weeks, comes from my new book, Tranquility by Tuesday.

The book, which is out October 11th, is about nine rules that can help you calm the chaos and make time for what matters.

One of the rules is to have one big adventure and one little adventure each week.

A big adventure takes a few hours, think half a weekend day.

A little adventure might be just an hour, doable on a lunch break or a weekday evening.

I find that this is a good pace to keep life interesting, without exhausting or bankrupting anyone.

If you've got a family or a partner or a really close friend group, you will often have those big adventures together.

That's just the nature of sharing a house or wanting to share life, which introduces some obvious tension.

What if you don't all enjoy the same things?

Friends can decide to do different things, as can partners.

But when you've got kids that raises the question of who's going to be responsible for them, if one party doesn't want to go, it can all get fraught.
