Do you ever feel that the world spins one way, but you go another?

That is what it is like to be a citizen in the kingdom of heaven.

Because Jesus himself taught that the right kind of behavior, that kind of behavior that represents

kingdom citizens is a backwards kind of behavior to what our culture says is normal.

Welcome to the morning mindset.

This is our opportunity to get our minds aligned with the truth of God's word for this day.

Because when our minds are aligned with God's truth, we then have an opportunity to live out that way of thinking in the

world in which we live. Well, today we're looking at Matthew chapter 5, verses 33 through 37. As we

continue in our kingdom series, you might think of today's episode as chapter number nine

in that series we're going through the gospel of matthew looking at every time jesus mentions or teaches

about the kingdom of heaven today we need to pray before we get started because god needs to be our teacher

the one instructing us

about His kingdom. So Lord, we do ask you to be our instructor, our guide, and our teacher.

It's in the name of your son, our king, Jesus, we pray. Amen. Okay, Matthew 5 33 to 37 reads

this way, and this is Jesus' teaching. Again, you've heard that it was

said to those of old, you shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.

But I say to you, do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,

or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king.

And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.

Let what you say be simply yes or no. Anything more

than this comes from evil. My friends, this is a very interesting teaching. First of all, you'll notice

he doesn't actually mention the kingdom, but he does mention Jerusalem as the city of the great king.
