You know, I'm the kind of person who read the old preachers, the old times of the 1800s and even

older preachers, 1900s. Somehow I just find so many of modern day books kind of leave me empty.

I love to read those old boys and how they poured their heart out in preaching and in proclamation.

And so I regularly read those old guys.

And I'm telling you, one of the things that really caught my attention is the fact that you don't

read too many sermons on marriages.

They did not preach many sermons. In fact, I can find one. They don't read too many sermons on marriages. They did not preach many sermons.

In fact, I can't find one.

They don't preach on marriages.

They don't preach on marital relationships.

And somehow marriages were great.

And today, of course, we have the preachers and teachers and psychologists and counselors

and sexologists and psychiatrists and all specializing

on marriage and marital relationships. And yet, it seems to me at least, more and more

marriages seem to be falling apart. And then I'm convinced as I looked at this and looked at our culture, looked at our society,

saw what's going on and compared it with some of the old days. And I realize, they're not always

good old days. And I know that. I'm not into that mold. But I want to tell you something.

I am convinced today that the more knowledge we have about marriage and marital relationships,

the more books we have on the subject, the more preaching and teaching we have on marriage

and marital relationship, the more we focus on marriage and marital relationship, the more

we see marriages in trouble. Now, I understand,

of course, that every culture, I understand that every generation have their own challenges.
