Summary

Trusting Jesus is Good: John 10: Daily Devotional, Daily Bible Study In this episode, Rachael Groll walks through John 10 and the powerful image of Jesus as our Good Shepherd. She explains how His care, protection, and guidance aren’t distant ideas but deeply personal realities that shape how we live and how we hear His voice. Drawing from the cultural context of shepherding and her own journey of learning to trust God’s care, Rachael shows why recognizing Jesus’ voice is central to a growing, grounded faith. ☆Go Deeper and Learn to Hear God’s Voice: Knowing Jesus Course ☆To Learn More About Sponsoring a Child, check out Compassion International here: ➤  Sponsor a Child ☆Get Ad-Free Episodes, Bonus Content, and more here:  patreon.com/HearingJesus ☆Go on a trip with Rachael: Bible Study Live ☆Have a question for Rachael? Learning to recognize God’s voice happens through relationship, not pressure or perfection. The cultural picture of shepherding helps us understand how closely Jesus walks with His people. Abundant life isn’t about comfort or success — it’s about being rooted in Jesus. The enemy tries to steal joy, hope, and purpose, but staying close to the Shepherd brings clarity and peace. True transformation happens when we trust Jesus enough to follow His leading. Our identity is anchored in belonging to Him, not in what we’ve been through. Walking with Jesus daily helps us discern His voice from the noise around us. Faith grows as we lean into His guidance with humility and dependence. Relationship with Jesus is always the foundation — not rules, not performance. 00:00 – The Heart of the Good Shepherd 02:10 – Understanding Shepherding in Jesus’ World 06:25 – Why His Voice Matters 11:42 – Abundant Life and Spiritual Discernment 15:30 – Learning to Trust God’s Care 18:55 – How to Recognize the Shepherd’s Voice 22:40 – Following Jesus in Everyday Life Bible, Bible Study, Devotions, Devotional, Daily Devotional, Prayer, Jesus, God, Holy Spirit, Spiritual Growth, hearing God’s voice, Hearing God, Hearing Jesus, Praying, Pray, God’s Word, Scriptures Hearing Jesus, Knowing God's Voice, Female Prophets, Bible Study, Spiritual Growth, Christian Podcast, Faith Journey, Obedience, God's Communication, Personal Reflections, prophecy, faith, surrender, spiritual gifts, women's ministry, Christian podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast where I help you to know God and to make him known.

You know, for me as a kid, I grew up in a situation where I often was put into adult scenarios and adult roles at a very young age, having to take care of the home and my younger brother. And I really

0:56.7

never felt like there was somebody caring and protecting me. It wasn't until I was an adult,

1:04.0

and it actually was in the last couple of years, where I truly understood what it meant

1:10.0

to be cared for and protected by God. And I think in a lot of

1:15.7

ways I didn't see how he had been doing that for me my whole life. It took me well into my 40s

1:22.3

before I realized that and I could look back and understand that. And of course, there are people in my life now that do

1:29.0

care for me and make me feel protected. My husband's one of them. My pastor's one of them, you know,

1:36.3

as far as guidance goes. But ultimately, I think until we really get it that Jesus is not just a father, but a good father, we don't fully understand our identity as his children.

1:51.0

And so along those lines, we're actually going to be in John chapter 10 today where Jesus uses the imagery of a shepherd and his sheep.

2:00.0

And I love this passage so much because it teaches us

2:03.4

a lot about our relationship with him. And so while on the surface, it might be about shepherds and

2:09.9

sheep. I want you remember, this was originally said to an ancient people group that lived in a

2:16.9

culture where they regularly had interactions

2:20.6

with sheep, they understood what it meant to be a shepherd, they understood that from the very

2:26.6

real sense all the way down to, you know, the metaphorical sense. But beneath that, I think if we

2:33.7

can see beyond the shepherd language, we realize that it's

2:37.4

about our relationship with Jesus and what it means to have him leading us in our lives and what

2:44.7

security means within the context of our relationship with the Lord. As we read today, I want you to

2:50.5

kind of keep some of those things
