President Trump was absolutely right to pardon General Michael Flynn.

Not only was it within his power to grant compassion, but it was part of his obligation to check and balance

excesses of other branches of the government so three cheers for President Trump for pardoning Michael Flynn.

Since the last Dersh show,

President Trump pardoned his former National Security

Advisor General Michael Flynn and he's gotten quite a bit of pushback for it because obviously

Flynn was part of the administration and close to the president.

Well I'm here to tell you that President Trump did exactly the right thing.

He not only had the power and authority to pardon General Flynn,

he should have done it and he did it. It's part of a very important

constitutional power to check and balance excesses in other branches of the government.

First, let's get to the power itself.

Constitution is as clear as can be.

I carry my little Constitution with me all the time.

Article 2 gives him, quote,

the power to grant reprieves and pardons

for offenses against the United States,

except in cases of impeachment, by the way,

I use that argument in my argument against impeaching the president pointing out that the

Constitution says the president can pardon all offenses accept impeachment, which to me suggests that impeachment

has to be based on an offense against the United States.
